It is now clear that neither the producers nor the OTT platforms are following the rule of maintaining 8 week gap between the theatrical release and the OTT release in Tollywood. There are a few films that are releasing on streaming sites within 3-4 weeks of their theatrical releases. But the Tamil Film Producers Council has taken a key decision.

After the meeting held on Monday, they have made an official announcement that any film from a big hero film needs to maintain an 8-week gap between the theatrical and OTT releases. They ordered not to start any new shootings after 16th August and ongoing shootings have to be wrapped up by 31st October. They have decided not to shoot for any projects from 1st November.

With a lot of movies waiting for release dates, they took this step according to the association. The shootings will reportedly resume once the unreleased projects are out in theatres. This is a bold decision that not many filmmakers recommend but the Tamil Film Producers Council are expected to go ahead with it. Let us wait and see how it all plays out because there are many films like Rajnikanth's 'Coolie', Kamal's 'Bharateeyudu 2' and 'Thug Life' and others which are yet to begin or either in the making.
