Chiru & Prabhas Get Relief from Telangana High Court

As Sankranthi 2026 approaches with several major Telugu releases lined up, an unexpected legal twist has grabbed attention in Hyderabad.
Makers of two of the season’s biggest films, Prabhas’ Raja Saab and Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, have taken the matter of cinema ticket price hikes and additional shows to the Telangana High Court, sparking a crucial hearing today. Guess what, the Telangana High Court felt that the earlier order applies only to films like Pushpa 2, Game Changer, #OG, Akhanda 2, and ordered the Telangana State Home Secretary to look into the hike request filed by the producers of these two movies.
Earlier, a single bench judge had issued an order on December 9th, 2025, restricting the increase of ticket rates and limiting the special show permissions in the state. This move could severely impact revenues, especially for big-budget festive films where first-week collections are critical, felt producers.
In light of this, as the Telangana Govt earlier cancelled the GO issued to the Akhanda 2 movie to hike prices, Chiru & Prabhas’ producers knocked court doors. Now they have got relief from the High Court, and the Telangana Government will now take a decision over the hike and additional shows.
As these two movies’ producers already applied to the Telangana Home Department for a hike in prices and additional screenings, surely the revised pricing and premiere shows would help both Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, big time.
