The cinema audience in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are beyond ordinary when it comes to encouraging quality cinema. This is again getting established after the kind of activity that’s happening with Kannada film, Kantara Chapter 1.
There is talk in the Telugu film industry about increasing ticket prices for dubbed movies in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, a few big films like War 2 and Coolie got permission for higher ticket rates.
Now, there is also a request to increase ticket prices for the Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1. This news has created debate among movie lovers.
Many people feel it is unfair to raise prices for dubbed movies, as the audience is already paying high amounts for big Telugu releases. Viewers worry that such hikes will make cinema tickets too costly for the common man.
They point out that ticket hikes should be limited only to special cases, not applied to every big film that comes to theaters.
In Telangana, a similar controversy happened with OG, where extra ticket prices created negative buzz. Because of that backlash, reports suggest that Telangana may not allow any more hikes in the future.
Right now, there is no official order from the Andhra Pradesh government. These are only proposals from film distributors and theater owners. Until the government makes a decision, it is not clear if dubbed movies will really get higher ticket rates in the state.
