There is no debating the fact that Telugu cinema has been ruling the roost across India for the last few years. The spectacular run of Pushpa 2 at the global box office, as the film has reportedly collected over ₹1700 crore gross speaks for itself.

With so much at stake, it is only natural that the Telugu film industry is the best performing industry when it comes to market capitalisation and theatrical returns. In accordance with this, Tollywood has reportedly generated ₹8000 crore revenue this year.

Pushpa 2 did Rs 1700 crore while Kalki did another 1200+ crore. Devara added Rs 500 and Guntur Kaaram added around Rs 250 crore. This in itself is a significant tally. Then we have other small and mid range films that contributed the rest of the tally.

In comparison, we have Bollywood which reportedly collected over Rs 10,000 crore theatrical revenue this year. The Hindi cinema is one of the best performing industries in all of India. When it comes to revenue, Bollywood is leading the chart, followed by Tollywood.

Tamil cinema comes third on the list as it generated in the range of ₹7000 crore revenue.

The good thing to be noted here is that all the film industries in India are buzzing big time with exceptional box office returns. At this rate, we can expect the Indian film industry to prosper further in 2025.
