Telugu film industry is currently undergoing one of its worst passages of play. Virtually every other medium range film is bombing at the box office and there’s absolutely no respite whatsoever in this context.

Tollywood is going through a tough time, especially for mid-range heroes and their films. In recent years, the audience has shown more interest in either very small films with fresh stories or big-budget movies with top stars. Because of this, movies with mid-level actors are not doing well in theatres.

Most mid-range films are opening with just 5 -10% of expected collections. Even if the talk is good, they are not able to recover their costs.

Still, some producers are working with mid-range heroes like Gopichand, Sharwanand, Nithiin, and Vishwak Sen, hoping for a surprise success instead of stopping production completely.

Big production houses are able to sell their films to OTT platforms, but mid-range movies are struggling. Many films are waiting for OTT deals after failing in theatres.

Industry experts say if mid-range heroes don’t deliver at least one strong hit before 2026, producers may stop offering them lead roles. Even actor Nagarjuna said Tollywood is going through a cycle, and another dull phase may be coming.

Overall, the industry now depends on either very big or very small films. The future of mid-range cinema looks uncertain unless one solid hit changes the trend soon.
