Big-Budget Films Creating Problems for Small Movies
The problem has become clear in the case of Adarsha Kutumbam, starring Venkatesh and directed by Trivikram Srinivas.
The Telugu film industry is facing a serious problem because of repeated changes in the release dates of big budget movies. While big films can attract audiences because of star heroes and popular directors, small films are struggling to find the right time to reach theatres. When big films postpone their releases, smaller films often have to change their plans and face unexpected losses.
Recently, several Telugu films changed their release schedules. Nani's The Paradise and Venkatesh's Adarsha Kutumbam are among the films that have drawn attention because of release date changes. Such changes create confusion among producers who have already planned their releases.
The problem has become clear in the case of Adarsha Kutumbam, starring Venkatesh and directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film was initially scheduled for October 2, then moved to October 9, and later to October 30. These changes affected other films that were ready for release.
Producer Dheeraj who planned to release his film Summer Holidays on October 30 had to postpone it to November 6. He explained that small producers spend a lot of money on promotions, advertising and distribution arrangements. When a big film suddenly changes its release date then small producers may have to spend money again to promote their films.
For big films, a change in the release date may be manageable. However, small films cannot easily afford such changes. They have limited budgets and depend heavily on proper planning. Postponements can increase their expenses, affect theatre availability and reduce their chances of getting enough screens.
Dheeraj also pointed out that communication between producers is important. Producers of big films often discuss release plans among themselves, but small producers may not receive the same attention. This creates an unfair situation for films made with limited budgets.
With this type of incidents, it's sure that The Telugu film industry needs better planning and communication. Producers should respect release dates announced by others and consider the difficulties faced by small films before making changes. Postponements may sometimes be unavoidable, but timely communication can help reduce the damage.
