Gone are the days when a film achieving the feat of entering the 1 million dollars club is a big thing. These days, any film, with proper marketing, is likely to get into that club and get there too. Some movies have even collected $20 million too. However, all these happenings are making the USA distribution system happy if reports are anything to go by.

According to some updates, in 2026 alone, even the biggest blockbuster like Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu has struggled to get into the break-even zone, though it ultimately did. Other blockbusters like Peddi, Chennai Love Story, Anaganana Oka Raju and other movies have got hit status in Telugu states, but haven’t recovered the investment in North America.

Apparently, some are blaming the terror created by US President Donald Trump among H1-visa-holders and F1-visa-students in the USA. They say that Telugu people are worried about their jobs, hence not watching the films. However, going by the young generation that’s living in the USA, they are always ready to watch films, and that’s how Maa Inti Bangaram made $2 million there. So where exactly is the problem?

Some say that these days, in the name of strong competition, distributors are spending huge money to acquire the North America distribution of Telugu films. This high-cost acquisition is leading to increased ticket prices of nearly $20-30, and that’s making audiences back out from buying the tickets. So, overpriced rights and tickets are literally killing the market, they say.
