The big announcement regarding the Padma Awards has finally happened today. The Central government has announced the Padma Awards 2026, and several eminent personalities from the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have figured prominently in the prestigious list.

Their contributions span across medicine, arts, science, and social service, earning national recognition.

Renowned physician Dr Nori Dattatreyudu, based in Telangana, has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his outstanding service in the field of medicine and healthcare. His decades long contribution to cancer treatment has brought global recognition to Telugu medical expertise.

Among the Padma Shri awardees, veteran Telugu film personalities Rajendra Prasad and Murali Mohan have been recognised for their remarkable contributions to Indian cinema. Their work has played a key role in shaping Telugu film culture across generations.

Senior scientist Dr Kumarasamy Thangaraj from CCMB Hyderabad has received the Padma Shri for his pioneering work in genetics and molecular biology. Rama Reddy Mamidi has been honoured for his contributions to animal husbandry and rural development.

Classical music exponent Garimella Balakrishna Prasad has been recognised for promoting Telugu devotional music, while Guduru Venkat Rao has been awarded for his service in the medical field.
