Dheekshith Shetty kicked off his talk at The Girlfriend trailer launch with a grin and a dodge. When the host tried to poke around his “type,” he brushed it off, saying they’d save that for a coffee chat, away from all the mics and lights. The crowd laughed, and so did he. It felt like he was talking to friends, not an audience. He looked genuinely surprised by how packed the venue was, joking that he hadn’t seen a crowd this big since Dasara. Then, with a teasing smile, he gave credit where it was due, “I think it’s mostly Rashmika and Geetha Arts pulling the crowd.”

After the fun came a bit of honesty. Dheekshith said The Girlfriend hit him harder than he expected. When he first read the script, it took him a while to shake it off. “It just stayed in my head,” he said. That’s when he knew he had to be part of it. He called working with director Rahul Ravindran a turning point, adding that he felt lucky to be chosen to play Vikram. “It’s not an easy guy to understand,” he hinted, “but that’s what made it exciting.”

He also gave fans a taste of what to expect. Vikram isn’t your perfect hero, he’s flawed, confusing, and sometimes maddening. Dheekshith said, “You’ll love him, you’ll hate him, and you might even see a bit of yourself in him.” Then came his cheeky one-liner that broke the tension: The Girlfriend isn’t just about anger management, it’s about how to manage one. The crowd loved that. You could tell he meant every word, but he didn’t take himself too seriously. The film hits screens on November 7.
