Kerala HC To Watch "The Kerala Story 2" - Makers Shocked

Responding to a writ petition that challenged the “U/A” certificate awarded to “The Kerala Story 2”, today Kerala High Court has given a big shocker to the makers of the film, while the film is set for a grand release this Friday. The Kerala HC felt that it’s not right to project the state of Kerala in a bad light and pointed out that Kerala is a state where people live in harmony, but not as shown in the trailer of the film.
According to media reports, the Kerala HC Judge felt that filmmakers could avail artistic freedom, but questioned the role of the Censor Board, which should make sure that films don’t incite passion and lead to chaos in any state of the country. The petitioner, however, mentioned that while “The Kerala Story 2” showcases stories happening in many states, the title shows as if Kerala is linked to it, and even gave an example of how the title of Netflix’s Ghooshkor Pandit was asked to change by the Supreme Court.
As the producers of the film gave a counter saying that the Censor Board gave approval, the Court reminded them that it could be challenged, and asked for a movie screening tomorrow. While the makers sought time to finalise the date for screening, the Kerala High Court postponed the matter for another hearing tomorrow. As per reports, if the film is based on true incidents, the Court even wants to see the detailed reports on those incidents that the makers have banked upon to carve the film.
