Natural Star Nani’s latest film The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela, is currently creating a buzz in theatres. At the same time, some scenes from the movie are getting attention on social media. One particular scene involving a dog has become a topic of memes and trolls.

Some viewers questioned the logic behind the dog bowing to God and helping the hero in an important situation. Many social media users discussed whether such scenes were believable. Director Srikanth Odela has now responded to these comments and explained the emotion behind the scene.

While talking about the criticism, Srikanth Odela referred to SS Rajamouli’s popular film Magadheera. He said that he was not comparing himself with Rajamouli, but wanted to explain how audiences accept cinematic moments when the emotion works.

He recalled a scene from Magadheera where a horse performs an unusual action. According to Srikanth, audiences enjoyed that moment in theatres without questioning its logic. He said that similarly, viewers should look at the emotion behind the dog’s character in The Paradise.

Srikanth explained that the dog has an emotional connection with Nani’s character from his childhood. When the hero is taken away by the police as a child, the dog runs behind the police vehicle. Later, while the hero is inside the prison, the dog remains outside and waits for him for years.

The director also explained the reason behind the dog’s behaviour in the scene. The dog had watched its owner praying and slowly learned the action. Because of this, the dog showing a similar emotion was included in the story.

Srikanth admitted that the complete backstory may not have been communicated clearly to the audience on screen. However, he said there was a proper emotional idea behind the scene.

He also stressed that movies should not always be watched only from a logical point of view. He also said that cinema also depends on emotion, imagination and cinematic freedom.
