One of the most hyped films to open in 2026 with big excitement is none other than Superstar Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. Released on Jan 9th, the film was expected to give a massive commercial treat to the audience as it has touched the super doable horror-fantasy genre. Then, things didn’t go as planned.

With a mixed talk emerging from the audience and critics slamming the film’s mediocre story and narrative, though visuals are top-notch, the film hasn’t performed up to Prabhas’s stamina. It ended up collecting only around ₹180 crores so far in 10 days of run, though the Opening Day saw the film collecting ₹50+ crores from the Indian box office. This slowdown of the film is a sort of record, because Raja Saab’s collections are a record low for Prabhas after his rise to nationwide popularity with the Baahubali franchise.

As per industry talk, Raja Saab is likely to post 40% losses to the producer, People Media Factory. However, they have big projects coming up to their rescue, including Spirit distribution rights for Nizam in their hand. Then they got Mirai 2 to be rolled out, and other interesting projects are coming up. The production house is likely to be a partner of Pawan Kalyan Creative Works too. All these things might help the producer stabilize their revenue streams, post Raja Saab losses. On the other hand, despite having Prabhas in hand, many are wondering why Raja Saab didn’t get things right and better than Adipurush and Saaho.
