Acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta introduced us to the life of stock market con Harshad Mehta through 'Scam 1992'. It showcased how he became rich in no time and shed light on his downfall too. This series got international recognition. Hansal turned into a producer and brought 'Scam 2003' under Tushar Hiranandani's direction. It was a success too and it showed the life of Abdul Karim Telgi who shook the nation with the stamp paper scandal. The makers tried to showcase the situations during that period in a very realistic manner.
Hansal Mehta became director once again for the third part of this hit series. It was announced with a lot of hype on social media. This part of 'Scam' will uncover the story of Subrata Roy who founded 'Sahara'. The series is titled 'Scam 2010'. Hansal Mehta said, “Scam is not just a franchise for me. It is a chronicling of our times. I'm thrilled to collaborate again with Applause and Sony LIV to bring this larger-than-life story alive.”
Danish Khan of Sony LIV said, “The series has consistently been the most viewed franchise on Sony LIV and we are confident that the third edition will create newer benchmarks in compelling storytelling.” According to the press release issued, it says, “Scam 2010 is the dust-to-diamonds story of Roy. In the early 2000s, Roy was caught in a whirlwind of accusations ranging from chit-fund manipulations to fake investors, ultimately leading to his arrest in 2014. With approximately ₹25,000 crore still lying unclaimed with government authorities, the repercussions of the scam continue to reverberate even today.” The cast is yet to be announced.
