From 500 Cr, 1000 Cr Grossers, Tollywood Going Backwards?

There is absolutely no doubting, the fact that Tollywood is the most celebrated film industry currently in Indian cinema. The kind of box Office Number that are being put ahead by Telugu Cinema are mixed to none in the Indian film industry.

We can proudly say that Tollywood is one of the most consistent industries around with consecutive 500 crore and 1000 crore grossers at the box office.

The likes of Baahubali, RRR, Kalki, and Pushpa 2 have kept Tollywood on the global map by grossing big money at the ticket counters. Tollywood had the privilege to boast of mega money grossers at the box office and the situation looked very promising all along.

However, there is a detrimental development that is developing now, and it is projecting a very bad trend for Tollywood as a whole. It has become common to see huge deficit films at the box in the recent past with a handful of films failing miserably at the box office.

In the recent past films like Acharya, Radhe Shyam, Game Changer and others have incurred such huge losses to everyone involved that they’re to be categorized as Rs 100 crore losses and Rs 150 crore losses films.

While all of Tollywood is progressing in a forward direction with massive collections at the box office and punching even rupees 1000 crore and 1500 crore grossers, such loss incurring films are resulting in Rs 100 crore and 150 crore losses.

Needless to say, at the end of the day, making such high scale, Pan Indian films always comes with its own risk. When hundreds of crores are involved in the business of every pan Indian film, there is always the exposure of certain films, not working and subsequently, leaving huge losses to the makers.

This could be the phenomena that directly affected the mentioned films. Better at the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the director to come up with at least engaging content in order to minimize the risk of huge losses. This is something that Tollywood needs to work on if it is to reduce its exposure to such magnanimous losses.
