Talk: Why Telugu Influencers Not Getting A Break?

Back in the day, filmmakers used to knock on the doors of top acting and film institutes in India to find out actors, and the likes of Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and Naseeruddin Shah were found that way only. However, these days, if someone has fame on social media, the so-called influencers are easily becoming actors as producers want to cash in on the craze. So, how’s that trend in Tollywood?
If we look at Bollywood, many Instagram influencers like Bhuvan Bam (Dhindora, Taaza Khabar), Prajakta Koli (Jug Jugg Jeeyo), Kusha Kapila (Ghost Stories, Sukhee), Harsh Beniwal (Student of the Year 2), and CarryMinati have made it big either in films or in the OTT world. However, when it comes to Tollywood, the influencers like Shanmukh Jaswant, Deepti Sunaina, Nayani Pavani, and Khushitha Kalapu haven't made anything big on the silver screen.
Except for Vaishnavi Chaitanya, who made a big splash with Sai Rajesh's Baby movie, others are not even close. Though they have got some initial films, maybe their poor acting skills and the choice of scripts have led to most of them failing big time. After giving a try in a couple of projects, these influencers are also giving up, and going back to YouTube or Instagram to make quick bucks through sales videos and home tours.
