2025 is nearly done and dusted as we are nearing the final couple of weeks of the year. Now let us have a look at the kind of box office numbers that were generated by Telugu films in this year as we round off on the most profitable films of the year.
The year 2025 proved to be highly profitable for Telugu cinema, with several hits dominating the box office. The first blockbuster of the year was Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, released on January 14. The film unexpectedly grossed over ₹300 crore, marking the biggest success in Venkatesh’s career.
Its strong performance also overshadowed producer Dil Raju’s earlier hit, Game Changer. On January 12, Daaku Maharaj released and came close to breaking even, ultimately being classified as a semi-hit. While it faced stiff competition from Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, it remained popular with fans as a mass commercial entertainer.
February saw the release of Thandel, giving actor Akkineni Nagachaitanya a successful comeback. On March 14, the low-budget film Court, made for just ₹4 crore, earned ₹60 crore. Later that month, Mad Square grossed around ₹70 crore.
Nani continued his winning streak with Hit 3, which grossed ₹110 crore. Single, starring Sri Vishnu, earned ₹40 crore, becoming his career’s biggest hit. Samantha’s production Shubham also performed well, while Shekar Kammula’s Kubera, released on June 20, earned solid profits.
July lacked major commercial hits, but the animated Mahavatar Narasimha delivered strong returns. September brought a major success with Little Hearts, made for ₹2.4 crore but grossing ₹40 crore, alongside profitable releases like Kishkindha Puri and Mirai.
OG opened well later that month but failed to break even. October’s K-Ramp performed decently, while November releases The Girlfriend and The Great Pre Wedding Show received positive talk but modest earnings. Raju Weds Rambayi, released on November 21, was a super success.
Overall, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam emerged as the year’s true winner, firmly establishing Venkatesh as the top box office star of 2025, despite numerous mid-range releases in the final weeks.
