Actor Trisha Krishnan has strongly condemned a personal and disrespectful remark made by Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran. The comment, which referred to her while targeting actor-politician Vijay, has triggered widespread discussion as the state moves closer to Assembly elections.

The controversy began when Nainar Nagendran questioned Vijay’s political experience and made a personal reference involving Trisha. Many people felt the remark crossed a line by dragging an actor’s personal life into political debate. The comment spread quickly on social media and news platforms drawing criticism from the public and the film industry.

Trisha responded firmly but calmly. She shared a message on X with the caption, "Disrespect should and always will be called out." Through her legal advisor, she issued a detailed statement expressing her disappointment over the comment. The statement said, "My client (Trisha) never expected that such a distasteful and inappropriate remark would be made by a person holding a high stature in the State's political space."

The legal statement also clearly explained Trisha’s stand on politics. It said that "she is not affiliated with any political party neither does she intend to be." Trisha has always maintained political neutrality and wishes to stay away from political controversies.

Highlighting her professional identity, the statement added, "My client wishes to be defined only by her craft and not by any alleged political alignment." It further stressed an important point, saying, "it is common saying that personal lives should never be made the subject of public commentary or discourse, and it is expected that persons holding high positions maintain responsibility and equanimity in public discourse." The statement concluded with a clear request: "It is requested that my client's name not be drawn into matters that do not concern her."

Despite the backlash, Nainar Nagendran later refused to withdraw his comment and said, "I said it only once." This response further fueled the debate about respect.
