A Unique Summer Ahead For Tollywood!

We all the result of releasing movies during the holidays. Good films become superhits and hit films turn into blockbusters. Targeting holidays and releasing the movies then will result in more people watching them. That is the reason why all the directors and producers aim for the Sankranti, Dasara and summer seasons. Sankranti season is done already and we saw four Telugu movies locking horns with each other.

'Hanu-Man' emerged as the winner and it is still running in a few theatres. The profits are huge. 'Guntur Karam', 'Saindhav' and 'Naa Saami Ranga' which were released at the same time are now on OTT platforms as they got the mixed talk. Now, the focus has been shifted towards the summer season. But Tollywood is facing a unique situation during this summer. Usually, we see the movie season starting from April and continuing for another two months. We hear about the records created by biggies and many more. This time, we are hearing more about project announcements and launches more than the records. There is no clarity regarding the star hero projects which are already on the floors. People are wondering if they get released on the announced date or not.

'Pushpa 2' is one of the most-awaited projects in the country. Allu Arjun and Sukumar are crafting it very carefully. The shooting is going on for a long time and the movie is going to be released on 15th August according to the movies. But there is a talk that a lot of shooting is still left to complete and the movie may not release in August. However, the unit is confident that they will arrive on time. We need to wait and see what happens.

After a blockbuster like 'Salaar', Prabhas is doing the prestigious science fiction project 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie has a huge buzz around it. The makers announced May 9th as its release date. But there are doubts regarding the film's date of arrival as it is produced on a grand scale and needs a lot of CG work.

Post 'RRR', NTR is doing 'Devara' which was supposed to release on 5th April but the makers announced the new release date on Friday. It is going to arrive on 10th October. Saif Ali Khan hasn't recovered yet and Anirudh's delay are the main reasons for the postponement according to reports. There is a talk that the release date may even get shifted ahead.

Ram Charan has teamed up with director Shankar and is making 'Game Changer'. The movie began long back and there are no updates regarding the progress. Dil Raju said that he is planning to release it in September but there is no official announcement. Let us wait and see what happens. Keeping all these aside, there are two projects which are definitely releasing at the start of summer.

Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur's 'Family Star' will be hitting the screens on 5th April. Dil Raju is the producer while 'Geetha Govindham' director Parasuram is making it. There are good expectations on it. The other film is 'Tillu Square'. This comic entertainer featuring Siddu Jonnalagadda is releasing on 29th March. The trailer raised the expectations a lot. With all the big films getting postponed, these two will have a free run at the box office. All they need is a positive talk. Let us see what happens.
