Patriotism has always found a place in Indian cinema. From real-life heroes to fictional warriors, the silver screen has kept the spirit of the nation alive. Many brave stories never reach the theatres, but the ones that do often stir emotions and inspire. This year and the next, a fresh wave of patriotic films in Telugu and Hindi promises to bring gripping stories filled with courage, sacrifice, and honour.

One big highlight is Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. Known for Sita Ramam, he now tells a story set in 1940, before Independence. Buzz is that Prabhas will play a soldier linked to the Azad Hind Fauj and the events of World War II. The team hints at a warrior who changes the very meaning of war. The film is expected next summer, with Imanvi Ismail in the lead.

Bollywood is also stepping into war stories with power. Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan will showcase the 2020 clashes between Indian and Chinese troops. Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur will tell the tale of Major Shaitan Singh and his soldiers in the 1962 Rezang La battle. Randeep Hooda leads Operation Khukri, based on a daring UN peacekeeping mission rescue in West Africa.

Other big releases include Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Adivi Sesh’s spy thriller Zee2, Nikhil’s The India House on London’s 1905 revolutionaries, and Agastya Nanda’s Ikkis on war hero Arun Khetrapal. With such a packed line-up, audiences can expect intense storytelling, strong performances, and moments that bring pride and goosebumps.

Indian cinema’s love for patriotism isn’t slowing down. In the coming months, the tricolour will be flying high on the big screen, and the theatres might just echo with applause for our heroes, past and present.
