In less than a month from now, Pawan Kalyan will be returning to the big screen with his next film, Ustad Bhagat Singh. However, this film had been facing a detrimental situation due to the extremely delay in the finalisation of the theatrical agreement.
Finally, the good news is that the film is completing the agreement just in time. The makers of Ustaad Bhagat Singh have reportedly locked a major OTT deal ahead of its theatrical release.
The digital streaming rights of the film have been acquired by Netflix for a whopping Rs. 80 crore. This is considered a strong pre release business move and gives the team solid financial backing even before the film hits theatres.
On the distribution side, the Kannada version will be handled by Hombale Films. Hombale Films is known for backing and distributing big scale films, and their involvement adds more weight to the film’s reach in Karnataka. This move is expected to help the film get a wide release in the Kannada market.
With barely a month left for release, it is a positive sign that both the theatrical and OTT agreements are falling into place. In today’s market, closing deals early reduces pressure on the makers and builds confidence among distributors and exhibitors.
Trade circles feel that locking a strong OTT partner like Netflix at this stage shows the platform’s faith in the film’s potential. If the promotional campaign clicks and advance bookings open on a strong note, the film could create solid momentum before release. Overall, these developments bring stability and positivity to the project at a crucial time.
