Public Talk: Theri Remake Would Have Done Wonders

After a long wait of nearly 3 years, finally the film of Harish Shankar with Powerstar Pawan Kalyan, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, has hit theatres the other day. Initially, the film was supposed to be a “Theri” remake, but then, due to various reasons, the director changed the story and finally cooked it up like an original story rather than doing the remake. However, after watching the film, a mixed talk has popped up.

Rather than coming up with their own story for “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” and changing the original “Theri” story quite badly, the public is feeling that remaking the original as it is would have worked big time. Especially by avoiding scenes like Samantha’s killing in the original, and changing that to the killing of a supporting character, the film Ustaad Bhagat Singh lost its emotional plot. And also the small-daughter angle, Amy Jackson’s plot, has all worked out big in Theri, but those aspects were completely killed off in the name of Pawan Kalyan being Deputy CM cannot do such scenes. Many wonder why!

While Theri’s action sequences are more intense and trendy, somehow Harish Shankar failed to bring out such elements. Also, with #OG showcasing Pawan’s stylish avatar recently, whatever Harish has carved for Ustaad is not living up to the expectations is what many people felt. At least, remaking the same Theri as is would have created some sort of impact in a dry season. That said, the film has shown pure Pawan Kalyan stamina with a nearly ₹48 crores gross opening from the worldwide box office.
