A week before the actual Valentine's Day, Telugu filmmakers already started serving movies that would cash in on this weekend. But surprisingly, last week’s releases aren’t even in the cinemas now, with most of the theatres already picking them out due to a lack of footfall. And after today’s release, there’s only one film left to be seen.
Last week, we had films like Euphoria and Sumathi Sathakam released, and the latter is aimed at youths, publicised as a love story. However, both the films have dried up by their first Monday itself, with theatres reverting back to Sankranthi biggies again. Even Tamil film With Love, which collected ₹15 crores gross from the Tamil Nadu box office, has failed to click in Telugu. And Today (Feb 13) release of Funky also failed to cater to the lovers who want to celebrate Valentine's Day with a good film.
That sets all eyes on Santosh Soban and Manasa Varanasi’s Couple Friendly movie. As the film’s two songs are chartbusters, and the film promises some finest narration from a middle-class point of view, it looks like the movie has all the ingredients to do well if it clicks. Now that the competition is also pretty much not there, Santosh Soban got a great window to occupy.
