The Indian entertainment industry has always welcomed talent from beauty pageants. Several top Bollywood actresses first gained attention through Miss India or Miss World contests. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza are well known examples.

Their success proved that beauty queens can become powerful performers. At the same time some title winners struggled to find long term success in films. Names like Yukta Mookhey and Diana Hayden remind audiences that glamour alone cannot guarantee stardom.

Now another beauty pageant achiever is stepping into Bollywood. Former Miss Universe India and popular supermodel Vartika Singh is making her Hindi film debut with the courtroom thriller Haq.

Haq is directed by Suparn Varma who has earned recognition for his work in intense dramas like The Family Man and Rana Naidu. The film features Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam in key roles by representing opposite sides in a high-pressure legal fight.

The film’s narrative is inspired by real incidents and the book Bano: Bharat ki Beti by Jigna Vora. It touches on sensitive themes about women’s rights and justice in India. Vartika has undergone special training workshops to sharpen her dialogue delivery and body language.

Supported by Junglee Pictures along with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, Haq is set to release in cinemas on November 7. The film will reveal whether Vartika Singh can join the list of beauty queens who became successful Bollywood stars.
