Despite making his debut with a solid entertainer like “Pelli Choopulu” and then carving out a cult classic like “Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi”, director Tarun Bhaskar never made movies with big stars. While his find Vijay Devaraonda became a big star, the director started to chase acting roles rather than directing stars.

At one point of time, there was a huge buzz that Tarun Bhaskar would be directing senior star Venkatesh in a film that revolves around horse racing and betting that takes place in Hyderabad. The film is tentatively titled “Deccan Derby”, with Tarun working for almost 2 years on the script under Venky’s brother, producer Suresh Babu’s supervision.

Reacting to the talk that we heard about “Deccan Derby”, Tarun Bhaskar stated that he has stalled the film as he has to work a lot on the second half of the movie. “After writing the whole film, I thought the second half needed to be changed. The content will be relevant even today, and the film needs lots of budget and VFX to make it happen. Will do it at the right time,” said Tarun Bhaskar in an interview.

He’s acting as the main lead in the upcoming ‘Om Shanti Shanti’, a remake of the Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jayahe. The movie is hitting cinemas on January 30th.
