His movies like 'Visaranai', 'Asuran', 'Vada Chennai', 'Aadukulam', 'Polladhavan' and many more are raw, intense and gripping. His last outing 'Viduthalai' was a huge success too and won a lot of appreciation.

During a roundtable rendezvous with a popular journalist and a couple of other directors, Vetrimaaran gave his take on reviews and ratings. He said, “I don't think reviews will affect any movie at the box office. For a film produced by me almost 7 years ago, there were rave reviews, but it collected only ₹1.5 crores. However, a film that fetched negative reviews ended up clocking ₹9 crores.”

He claims that reviews don't affect the film's box office prospects. But he made another interesting comment revealing that a few international distributors told him that good ratings are important as the actors and producers will get a moral boost from it and don't feel bad about their work if the film ends up as a commercial failure.

Currently, Vetrimaaran is working on is focused on the second part of 'Viduthalai' featuring Suri and Vijay Sethupathi. Also, he is working on an interesting film with Suriya and people are very eager to know about the continuation of the blockbuster film 'Vada Chennai'.
