Viewers Call 'Jaane Jaan' As Poorly Executed 'Drishyam'!
The story has been narrated in a more mysterious manner in 'Jaane Jaan' and it is a bit darker too.
Bollywood's sweetheart Kareena Kapoor Khan has made her OTT debut with 'Jaane Jaan' which released on Netflix recently. With acclaimed director Sujoy Ghosh handling the megaphone while Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma playing the main characters along with Kareena, the expectations were high on the movie. The trailer was interesting too which increased the curiosity.
The story of 'Jaane Jaan' was inspired by the Japanese best-selling novel 'Devotion Of Suspect X'. Interestingly, Jeethu Joseph's super hit Malayalam movie 'Drishyam' which released back in 2014 was also inspired by the same novel. It was remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi as well. So, the audience instantly remembered 'Drishyam' when they saw 'Jaane Jaan'. Some are even saying that it is a poor version of 'Drishyam' with a different backdrop and new cast.
The story has been narrated in a more mysterious manner in 'Jaane Jaan' and it is a bit darker too. The crime mystery quickly makes you invested and the audience are hooked right from the beginning. But the biggest minus point is the lack of novelty as the audience already knew how the film unfolds.
Both Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Verma did wonderfully in their respective roles. They brought a lot of depth and Vijay had to work extra hard as his character was not properly written at places. Kareena came out with a subtle but impactful performance. The acting is amazing but it is the execution part which fails to impress. 'Jaane Jaan' is definitely not a bad film and can be watchable but the shock value required for a mystery drama went missing.
