Lack of Publicity Hurts Vijay Antony’s Telugu Reach

Vijay Antony's latest movie Maargan was released yesterday along with Kannappa. The movie was distributed by Asian Suresh Productions, so it got decent theatres for screening. Though the morning shows did not get much audience the word-of-mouth started slowly on social media. By evening, the number of viewers increased in theatres.

Maargan is a regular crime thriller. But director Leo John Paul’s style of narration is impressing thriller movie lovers. Especially the twists, screenplay, and supernatural elements kept the audience engaged. In the last few years, this movie is being seen as a decent film for Vijay Antony after his hit Bichagadu.

However, the main problem is with the movie promotions. In Tamil, Vijay Antony himself is working hard for promotions. He is meeting the media and fans, and trying to create positive talk around the film. But in Telugu, the movie is lacking that support. There was only one pre-release event, but unfortunately, it did not reach the audience properly.

In the present situation, whether it is a straight Telugu film or a dubbed one, publicity is very important. Even for Kannappa, Manchu Vishnu is putting in so much effort despite having a huge star like Prabhas in the movie. Following the current trend, promotions play a key role in a film’s success.

If Maargan gets even moderate-level promotions in Telugu, there is a good chance that the audience will support it. Right now, even movies that are slightly above average are getting good collections in Tollywood. Maargan can also fall into that category. After Bichagadu, Vijay Antony is yet to get a blockbuster. Bichagadu 2 was average and his last few films did not perform well. Interestingly Vijay Antony not only acted in Maargan but also composed music for it.
