Jana Nayagan To Release As Vijay's Birthday Gift?

Fans of Vijay are eagerly waiting for the release of his much-awaited film Jana Nayagan. However, recent reports suggest that the film’s release has been pushed again. Initially planned for an April or May 2026 release, the makers are now looking at a possible June 2026 release, most likely around June 25, close to Vijay’s birthday on June 22.

The main reason for this delay is the pending censor clearance. According to reports, the revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not yet started the re-evaluation process for the film. Even though the movie has already gone through the initial certification stage, the revising committee is yet to officially begin its review.

Sources say that the production house KVN Productions has not received any official communication or confirmation from the CBFC. Without this clearance, the team cannot lock a final release date, leading to continuous uncertainty and concern among fans.

Due to this delay, a February 2026 release has been completely ruled out. Even if the censor process begins soon, the timeline would be too tight for promotions and a smooth theatrical release. Reports also suggest that a March release is unlikely, as another big project from the same banner, Toxic, is scheduled to hit theatres around that time.

An April release window is also considered difficult because of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, which could affect promotions and theatre availability. Hence, June is seen as the safest and most profitable option. The makers are reportedly planning to take advantage of public holidays around Vijay’s birthday, which could help boost box office collections.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan marks his first collaboration with Vijay. The film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju and Prakash Raj in key roles.
