"Leo" has been generating significant anticipation in South India ahead of its release this year. Directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, the filmmaker behind the blockbuster "Vikram," and starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, the film had been riding high on expectations. However, the trailer's release has triggered mixed reactions, with some disappointment expressed on social media.

The trailer seemingly fell short of expectations, and it appeared that the film's storyline drew comparisons to a Hollywood movie, particularly "A History of Violence."

This resemblance to the 2005 Hollywood film, which was based on a 1997 graphic novel of the same name, led to some frustration among those who had high hopes for "Leo."

In "A History of Violence," the story revolves around Tom Stahl, a hotel owner who becomes a hero after defending his establishment against robbers. However, his newfound fame attracts the attention of mafia gangs who target him and his family. The hero must go to great lengths to protect his loved ones, ultimately revealing his true identity as a former gangster.

While some netizens have drawn parallels between shots in the "Leo" trailer and "A History of Violence," there is still a sense that Lokesh Kanakaraj has brought his own unique touch to the narrative.

This isn't the first time Lokesh's films are attracting criticism. And as of now, the team is yet to respond to these rumours.
