Vishnu Manchu didn’t hold back when addressing what disappointed him most in Kannappa. At a press meet in Hyderabad, he opened up about one of the film’s biggest compromises: the visual effects. While the movie, released last Friday, received a warm response for its second half and Prabhas’ impactful cameo, criticism around subpar VFX became a talking point. Vishnu confirmed that scenes he believed were some of the film’s strongest were chopped because the effects didn’t live up to the story's spiritual and visual scale.

The actor-producer said he and the core team, director Mukesh Kumar Singh and editor Anthony, jointly took the tough call to leave certain scenes out entirely. “We had no choice,” Vishnu said bluntly. “The VFX wasn’t up to the mark, and we couldn’t afford to ruin the audience's experience with weak visuals, even if the scenes were powerful in writing and performance.” He added that letting go of those sequences hurt, but it also taught him a major lesson in trusting quality over emotional attachment.

Vishnu acknowledged that many in the audience might not even realize what was missing, but he’s not using that as an excuse. “It’s a massive lesson for me. One I’ll never forget or repeat. Even though the viewers didn’t point it out directly, I knew. And that’s enough,” he said, showing a mix of regret and resolve. The irony? Despite the VFX hiccups, Kannappa has already become the highest-grossing film of his career.
