Finally, after a long wait, Vishwaksen’s latest movie “Funky”, bankrolled by Sithara Entertainment and directed by Anudeep of Jathiratnalu fame, has released in theatres. Right from the first show, the movie amassed only mixed reviews, and many slammed it for being a jerky movie that has no soul and screenplay. Keeping all that aside, some say that the film’s story is also inspired.

While there’s no story inside “Funky” except the film showcasing some satires on the movie industry and how movies are being made, the movie might have been inspired by another film. As per reports, Funky’s storyline is pretty close to the 2017 Malayalam film Oru Cinemakkaran. Almost all the key sequences and twists are straightaway lifted from the original only, though another Tamil film also ran on a similar line. While the tone and story point in that Malayalam film are different, movie lovers are saying that Funky is loosely inspired, falling in the category of a freemake.

Just in case if Sithara Entertainments want to remake any film officially, they have earlier officially took rights of a film to carve out “Butta Bomma”. So even though they might have not thought about remaking any film for Funky, but the makers might have accidentally got a similar idea.
