Trends Changing: Box Office Warns Tollywood Again
In recent times, many comedy movies that were expected to make it big at the box office have failed miserably.;
So, the moot question is, “What’s working at the Box Office right now?” Every time some biggies, stars, and producers used to say that commercial film would always click, but then, that slowly changed to films that have a unique commercial factor that will work, but not all. Now, it has come to a point where only films with ‘content’ will work, but again, that brings us back to the question, ‘what’s meant by that content?’.
In recent times, many comedy movies that were expected to make it big at the box office have failed miserably. After the success of Little Hearts, many such cringe-comedy films have come, but nothing has clicked. Similarly, after looking at the Sankranthi success of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, many commercial films followed, but none of them clicked. So, commercial movies and cringe films will never click, but might see success rarely, due to various uncontrollable factors. Even the box office numbers are proving the same.
With various films releasing at the Box Office, one could notice that, except during the Sankranthi season, the pure-blue commercial factors never clicked. At the same time, films that have extremely out-of-the-box ideas have also failed to click. So, films should be relatable, they should have emotion, comedy, an engaging screenplay, a wow factor, and great performances coupled with good writing. Altogether, this could be called content, and only content is working right now. While most of the latest releases in February and March have given warnings to Tollywood multiple times, we have to see how cautious our filmmakers will be now.
