'Guntur Karam' which arrived during the Sankranti season in the combination of Trivkram and Mahesh Babu has failed to reach the expectations. The Sankranti festive season and hike in ticket prizes made sure that most of the money was recovered but the film would have turned into a disaster if those factors didn't exist.

Though Trivikram and Mahesh's 'Khaleja' was a big failure back in 2010, it earned a cult status over the years and Trivikram's taking got the praise it deserved. But it is not the case with 'Guntur Karam'. Everyone is bashing the director for his lazy work and many say that this film is nowhere Trivikram's level. There are complaints about Trivikram mixing his own movies and cooking 'Guntur Karam'.

Veteran writer Paruchuri Gopalakrishna does postmortem on movies that completed their theatrical run. On his YouTube channel, he analyzed 'Guntur Karam' and politely said that he did not like the movie. He stated that Trivikram is his favourite writer-director but his prowess is nowhere to be seen in the movie. He added that there is no relation to the story and the title. 'Guntur Karam' is a mass movie's title while what Trivikram gave us was a family drama. He said that the audience would have received the film in a better way if the movie is named 'Guntur Abbayi' instead of 'Guntur Karam'.

According to him Trivikram usually keeps apt titles for his movies but 'Guntur Karam' sounded strange since the start. He added that 'Guntur Karam' is not a film on Mahesh's level and the screenplay is quite confusing. The mother-son sentiment did not work at all and it got money because of the Mahesh-Trivikram combination and nothing more. He is hopeful that Trivikram will arrive with good content for his next movie.
