Flop Directors & Big Budget Films: What’s Up?

In Bollywood, we see various big-budget movies coming, and most of them are being directed by filmmakers who made super flops. While they made super flops already, why are they getting such big films still is what worries even Telugu industry folks. Because here in Tollywood, if someone delivers one big flop, that director might not get another big film soon.

If we look at Bollywood work ethic closely, that industry believes that if they are making a new 200 crores budgeted film, then they will work on the script first, and then hire a director who has already handled projects of that stature. They think that giving a 200 crores budgeted film to someone who has made movies with 25 crores or less is not a good thing to do. That’s how the investment gets secured. And that’s how some flop directors, who directed a couple of two hundred crore-budgeted movies, will get chances again and again.

Here in Tollywood, if a director fails to deliver with a 150 crore film, definitely he’s not going to get the same budget again until his next delivery. Here, the projects are offered, and the budgets are invested more in the director’s last film’s credibility than in his track record. That’s why in Tollywood, we don’t see flop directors getting big-budget movies, but that happens often in Bollywood.
