The first part of the film “Ramayana” is hitting cinemas across the nation on November 5th, in various languages including Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and others. On that note, many are wondering if the film has come off well or not, or might surpass the mistakes of Adipurush or not, and many things. However, the success of “Ramayana” is actually important for many other reasons. Let’s have a look at a few of them.
Big-Scale Movies Should Prove: Other than Rajamouli’s movies like Baahubali and RRR, no other big-scale movie from India has proven the mettle of filmmaking and an engaging narrative to the outside world. Even if we take out the story being epic already, Ramayana Part 1 is made on a grand scale in terms of the film’s span, visuals, casting, budget and all others. If the film clicks, many big films coming from India will have a chance to go outside. For that, the film should first click big time in India as well.
The Story Of India: At the moment, there is huge importance in telling our cultural stories for the next generation. Hollywood keeps on doing that by showing stories about America’s greatness and then churns out many films in that direction. Ramayana would be an introduction to Indian culture, and if the film clicks, not just Westerners but even Young Indians would learn a lot from that.
A Concord of Big Stars: A big star collaboration is rare. Though we see multi-starrers often in Bollywood, a big star is always accompanied by a Tier-2 Gana Bhajaana batch only. But here in Ramayana, the film has Ranbir, Yash, Sai Pallavi and many others joining hands, and they all happen to be the biggest stars at the given moment. Only if such films work, more such star-unions will happen.
The VFX Gamble: Other than Hollywood, no one used to match the scale of VFX that a live-action movie needs. Slowly, they were joined by Korean movies. Now that Ramayana is coming, if the film clicks, it proves that top-quality VFX can be delivered by Indian films also.
For all these good reasons, Ramayana Part 1 should do well at the box office, and it depends on the audience now. Fingers crossed!
