Yash's upcoming pan-India film Toxic is one of the most awaited movies in Indian cinema. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has created huge buzz over the last three years. The makers have released several posters, teasers, and promotional videos to keep the excitement alive. However, many fans are still asking one simple question: What is Toxic actually about?
So far, almost every promotional video has focused on stylish visuals, romantic moments, glamorous women, and slow-motion action scenes. Many clips also include the warning, "Kids, please stay away," hinting that the film is meant for mature audiences. Apart from these repeated elements, the makers have not revealed much about the actual story.
The latest promotional video titled Ladies & Ladies has also become a major talking point. Instead of explaining the plot, the teaser mainly shows women surrounding Yash's character, Raya. It includes several romantic and intimate shots, English dialogues in a KGF-style presentation, and stylish visuals. While the teaser looks grand, many viewers felt it still did not explain the film's main theme.
An opinion piece by India Today also raised similar concerns. The article questioned whether the film truly presents a "female gaze," as promised earlier. It argued that although the teaser gives women a voice-over, most of the visuals continue to focus on their appearance and their attraction towards Yash's character instead of showing their own individual stories.
Many social media users have also shared similar opinions. They say every new teaser looks visually impressive but repeats the same style without giving any clue about the central conflict, the gangster world, or the emotional journey of the characters. As a result, curiosity about the film continues to grow.
At the same time, Yash's fans remain excited because of his popularity after the KGF franchise. They believe the makers are intentionally hiding the main story to surprise audiences when the film releases.
Whether this marketing strategy will work can only be known after the movie hits theatres. Until then, one question remains unanswered: beyond the stylish visuals, romance, and action, what exactly is Toxic really about?
