Court Imposed 10 lakhs Fine on RGV

Many times Ram Gopal Varma openly confessed  that his biggest mistake as director  was choosing to remake the Bollywood all-time classic 'Sholay'. RGV ki Aag is a 2007  directed by Ram Gopal Varma. and the  film was an official remake of the 1975 film Sholay. RGV earned wrath of all sections for remaking the classic and the film also became disaster.Now  after so many years, the remake of the iconic film camt to haunt the filmmaker.

The  Delhi High Court slapped a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Ram Gopal Varma and his production house for intentionally remaking the blockbuster Sholay by violating the copyrights. The judgement was delivered on a lawsuit filed by Sascha Sippy, son of the original Sholay's producers Vijay Sippy and G P Sippy.

The makers of the original film  approached High Court against RGV for deliberately using  the scenes, character names and some dialogues that belongs to original film. Upon hearing the petition Court delivers its final verdict yesterday and slapped 10 lakhs fine on RGV.The remake of Sholay  features Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Ajay Devgan, Prashant Raj Sachdev, Sushmita Sen and J. D. Chakravarthy. The film received negative reviews upon release and RGV earned wrath from audience and Bollywood critics.
