TDP MLAs can't live without power. Well! Chandrababu himself taught them this formula. Last time when he won the Assembly elections, he purchased MLAs from the YSRCP like they were sheep in the market. He felt these defections would weaken the YSRCP and strengthen the TDP.
But, the reverse happened. The YSRCP won a staggering majority despite the desertions and the TDP was reduced to a poor second despite encouraging defections. But, the big question now after the elections results is whether the TDP MLAs stick with the TDP. How many of the want to be in the TDP and sit in the Opposition. The MLAs are unsure of the revival of the TDP even after five years. Chandrababu is ageing and Lokesh lost his election. So, the party is staring at a huge crisis and has no one who can lead the party. Given this situation, it is unlikely that the TDP MLAs would remain in the party.
But, there is one hitch. Jagan is not interested in encouraging defectors. Even if they resign the TDP, Jagan does not want to let them in. He has 151 MLAs and does not want any defector at his door step. But, the interesting thing is that the MLAs are looking towards the BJP as the party is in power at the Centre. If BJP lets them in, the trickle would soon become a deluge and according to indications, at least 10 TDP MLAs are in touch with the BJP.
so, wait for more drama to unfold in the days to come!!
