Has rebellion already begun in the ruling YSRCP over the cabinet rejig? It appears so. If the sources are to be believed, a key MLA from Kadapa district has held a secret meeting of the party MLAs in Bengaluru. The venue and the time of the meeting were kept a closely guarded secret. Sources say that at least 12 MLAs attended the meeting.
These MLAs, who belong to four social communities, were unhappy at the 'social engineering' of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. They are upset that Jagan is giving more importance to some communities ignoring other communities that stood solidly behind him through the thick and thin. They voiced dissent and said that they had wage many a battle and braved many an assault to stay in the YSRCP. But, their sacrifices are being ignored in the name of caste calculations.
Interestingly, these MLAs were not in their districts on Ugadi day to celebrate the formation of the new districts. They were in Bengaluru to discuss their political future. They are disappointed that they would be denied a place in the cabinet in the name of caste calculations. Sources say that these MLAs are also holding discussions with their supporters.
Sources say Jagan is aware of this meeting and is said to have deputed some key leaders to assuage the feelings of these MLAs. The emissaries are said to have explained the political compulsion of YS Jagan and were requested to bear with him. But, these MLAs are said to be unrelenting. It remains to be seen how things shape up in the coming days.
