Telangana will soon have 24 districts. Telangana state government has initiated the process of setting up 14 new districts. Government is planning to implement AP district formation 1975 act with name of Telangana district formation act 2015. Today cabinet meeting is likely to approve this.
There have been demands from various areas for creation of new districts in the region. Chief minister KCR has been advocating creation of 14 new districts ever since he assumed charge as Chief Minister.
The 14 new districts that are sought to be created include
Siddipet and Sangareddy in Medak district
Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool in Mahbubnagar district,
Suryapet in Nalgonda district,
Bhadrachalam in Khammam district,
Mancherial in Adilabad district,
Jangaon, Jayashankar district in Warangal district
Jagitial in Karimnagar district.
