15 dead after train runs over passengers in Vijayanagaram

After a tragic Volvo bus accident that was happened days before in Mahaboobnagar here is one more disastrous  incident taken place in the state.Fifteen passengers were killed after they jumped out of a running train and were run over by another train in the adjacent track on Saturday at Gotlam station 3 KM from Vizianagaram.

At least 15 people are feared to have died and eight others injured as a train ran over them

According to sources, the passengers in Bokaro express were suddenly in panic with the rumours that the bogies were caught in fire. Since emitting smoke was found in S1 and S2 bogies, some passengers jumped out of the train.

As people from the stationary train pulled chains and started getting down in panic, the Rayagada-Vijayawada passenger train ran over them, killing 15 and injuring at least eight others.

Passengers, majorly women and children were crushed under the wheels. Since bodies lay mangled on the rail track, the number of casualties was not known exactly. The incident occurred near Gotlam village, 3 KM from Vizianagaram, the district head quarters.Fire and emergency officials have been rushed to the spot.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSRCP president Jagan has expressed condolences at the tragedy and asked for the best medical treatment to the injured.
