18% GST Applies For Parottas

Update: 2020-06-13 03:29 GMT
In what it could be a shocker the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Centre decided to place Parotta a step higher than the roti under the Goods and Services Tax(GST) tax.

From now on, parottas will be subjected to GST of 18%, while plain chapati and roti will be applied with a GST rate of only 5%. This will surely leave the southern states in a shock as the southern states are the main consumers of parotta.

Ever since the news broke out, Netizens made various trends across media and shared some most hilarious and funny memes on this decision. To any ones guess those memes are mainly from Kerala state.

What's even shocking is that ID Fresh Food a Bangalore based company that deals with the sales of ready-made food products backed the move and said that parottas are not rotis as the latter is completely cooked product.
