1988 batch IPS officer takes charge as CBI acting chief

Rishi Kumar Shukla, who has served two years as the boss of the public agency Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) retired on Wednesday, making the post vacant.

To fill the place, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Additional Director Praveen Sinha became the acting chief of the investigating agency. The acting chief took charge on Thursday.

It has been widely reported that Praveen Sinha will render his services as the acting chief of CBI, till the  Department of Personnel and Training names the candidate, who will replace Mr. Shukla as full-time chief.

During his career, Praveen Sinha held various positions. He also gained fame for successfully unearthing several major scams, including bank scams and financial crimes.

According to the information,  Praveen Sinha was selected for the post of acting chief of CBI by a high-level committee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Chief Justice of India(CJI) are the members of the committee.

The acting chief played a vital role in unearthing the paper leagues of CAT and AIPMT which has shocked the nation. He has also played a crucial role in drafting the manuals of Vigilance Manual 2017 of Central Vigilance Commission and CBI (Crime) Manual, 2020,
