Hang all those Eight Convicts

2006 Mumbai Train Blasts case came up for hearing Today. The Prosecution sought death penalty for eight out of twelve convicted and life term for four others in the case.

Describing the eight convicts as 'Merchants of Death', Special Public Prosecutor argued that the educational qualification of the criminals can't be a reason sentencing to lesser punishment. He reminded Yakub Menon (1993 Mumbai blasts convict, Hanged on July 30th) who was a chartered accountant with good track record wasn't shown mercy.

Mumbai Local Train Blasts on July 11th, 2006 between 6.24 pm and 6.35 pm killed 189 people and injured over 800 others. Last month, 12 out of 13 Men accused of plating bombs on Mumbai local trains were found guilty of links with Terror Outfits and Mass Murders. Arguments on the quantum of punishment the court should award to these criminals have been completed. Final Judgement will be delivered on September 30th.
