270 People Died Counting Votes In This Country

On April 17th this year, Nationwide Polling happened in Indonesia to elect the next President and Parliament Members. 80 percent of total 193 million eligible voters exercised their right to vote. Each one of them had to punch up to 5 ballot papers in this elections held in more than 8 lakh polling stations.

Long Working Hours took a toll on the health of Election Staff in Indonesia. At least 270 Election Staff dies of fatigue-related illness  so far. Another 1,878 Members had fallen sick due to heavy work load.

Indonesia Health Ministry ordered for best medical facilities for sick Election Staff. Finance Ministry is likely to announce compensation for families of deceased Election Staff.

As per the quick counts, Incumbent President Joko Widodo might have won the elections by around 10 percentage against Prabowo. Winners of the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections will be announced on May 22nd.
