Mulug is one of the smallest districts in Telangana. But in the last 40 days, this district has seen four collectors. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the TRS leaders, who apparently want to get the Medaram Jatara contracts for themselves, are getting the collectors transferred because they are not complying with their demands.
The first collector to go was C Narayana Reddy. He was transferred suddenly on December 23. There were rumours that he was transferred as he opposed the corrupt practices of the TRS leaders. On December 23, Vasam Venkateswarlu was given additional charge of Mulug along with Bhupalapally district. On January 28, he too was shunted out due to the delay in the Medaram works. Then Khammam collector Karnan was given the job as incharge collector. He took over on January 29 and barely four days later, he was shunted out. Now, Utnool ITDA PO Krishna Aditya has been appointed the collector of Mulug. Thus, four collectors have been shifted between December 24 and February.
All these transfers are casting their long shadow on the administration and the works relating to the Medaram Jatara, which attracts over a crore people from across the state. The frequest shifting is quite in contrast to the earlier practice of appointing an experienced officer as the collector ahead of Medaram Jatara.
