4 Kgs gold recovered from plane’s toilet in Vizag

The Rajiv Gandhi International airport at Shamshabad has already gained notoriety for smuggling of gold from Gulf countries. Now seems Vizag airport also turning as hotspot for the gold smugglers.

As per the reports Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had seized about 4 kg of gold from an aircraft after it landed at the Visakhapatnam airport.

As per reports a passenger who caught by custom officials at Hyderabad airport confessed that 40 gold bars had been concealed in the toilet of the aircraft which routed to Vizag. After getting the information the officers of DRI, Visakhapatnam, carried out a search on its arrival there and recovered the gold bars.

The gold totally weighing four Kgs  and valued at 1.2 crores in the market was seized under relevant rules of the Customs Act and the passenger was arrested. Further investigation is on. Earlier on April 22, the Customs officers had detected two gold bars concealed in the sole of the shoes of a passenger coming from Dubai. The case is under investigation.
