51% Increase In Indians Getting Canada Residency

More number of Indian Citizens has been keen to acquire permanent residency in Canada. Change in Immigration Policy by Trump Administration has been resulting in migration of Indians to neighbouring Canada.

In 2018, There was 51 percent increase in the number of Indian Citizens obtaining Canadian Green Card. As many as 39,500 Indians (43% of total number) received Permanent Residency in Canada under the express entry system. Canada granted 92,000 green cards under Express Entry System in 2018 and that's a 41 percent increase from previous year.

India holds the top spot with 39,677 people from this part of the World bagging Canadian residency. Nigeria pushed China to the third spot by bagging 6,653 green cards in 2018 and that's 131% rise from 2017. Only 5,885 Chinese Citizens received Canada green card in 2018.

Indians working in US kept facing challenges such as denials of H-1B Visa extensions, long waiting period for Green Cards and the proposal to end the right to work for Spouses of H-1B Visa Holders. So, More number of Indians has been preferring to settle down in Canada.
