Tamil Nadu is known for temples for politicians and film stars. To that list is added another temple – not for film star or politico, but to Corona Goddess.  Yes. A temple has bee constructed for Corona Devi at Kamatchipuri Adhinam near Coimbatore. The Goddess of Corona is being worshipped there through regular prayers.

The 'Goddess' is 1.5 feet tall blackstone idol and the temple committee is now planning to hold  48 day Maha Yagam. The temple authorities say that installation and consecration of such idols is in vogue in Tamil Nadu. He said that when Plague visited the state last century, a temple for Plague Mariamman was constructed. The temple authorities say that their Guru had appeared in their dreams and has ordered them to construct the temple. Accordingly, a temple has been built and an ideol consecrated.

But, the catch is the Tamil Nadu administration has ordered that the people should not visit and offer prayers at the temple in view of the lockdown and curfew restrictions. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu had reported over 16.99 lakh Covid positive cases as on Wednesday.
