The upcoming general elections in Gujarat are grabbing everyone's attention due to various reasons. In the Bharatiya Janata Party's stronghold which could not be broken by the grand old Congress also, the Delhi-based AAP wants to try its luck. The party started projecting that it is going to form the government.
Adding intensity to the polls, AAP's candidate Kanchan Jariwala went missing yesterday. AAP is saying that there might be BJP's hand in this. Now the candidate appeared all of a sudden and reportedly withdrew his nomination.
The viral pictures and videos show the candidate coming out of the Returning Officer's office in Surat. This is a big blow to the AAP as the candidate withdrew his nomination. After a lot of filtration and thinking, he was taken as the candidate. Now the AAP leadership has to do all the process from the start.
Kanchan Jariwala withdrew his nomination at the time when the AAP is alleging that he is missing and might have been kidnapped by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also raised doubts about whether he was kidnapped.
"Our candidate from Surat (East), Kanchan Jariwala, and his family missing since yesterday. First, BJP tried to get his nomination rejected. But his nomination was accepted. Later, he was being pressurised to withdraw his nomination. Has he been kidnapped?," Arvind Kejriwal said on Twitter.
There is no doubt that the Bharatiya Janata Party has been strong in Gujarat for the past few decades. Moreover, it is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It is going to be a tough task for any party to win there.
However, there are a few areas the AAP wants to bank on. The Congress party is getting weaker and weaker and its vote bank is lying idle. A major share of Muslim voters vote for the grand old Congress party and the Delhi-based party wants to try its luck there. Even if it can get 10 to15 seats it will be a great achievement and it might slowly expand its reach and pose a threat to BJP.
